About the Role

Drivon is expanding into native Android development for Kenyan SMEs and startups who need reliable, offline-capable apps that work well even on patchy connections.

You will own apps end-to-end: architecture, M-Pesa payment integration, UI, testing and Play Store submission.

This is a chance to set the standard for how Drivon builds mobile — your decisions on architecture and tooling will shape every app that follows.

What You Will Do

  • Design and build native Android apps using Kotlin
  • Implement M-Pesa Daraja API integrations for payments
  • Architect offline-first features so apps remain usable on poor connections
  • Apply Material Design 3 guidelines for clean, native-feeling UI
  • Handle Play Store listing, submission and release management
  • Set up Firebase for analytics, crash reporting and push notifications
  • Write unit and UI tests to keep releases stable

What We Are Looking For

Must Have

  • 2+ years building and shipping native Android apps
  • Strong Kotlin and Android SDK experience
  • Experience integrating payment APIs (M-Pesa Daraja or similar)
  • Understanding of offline-first architecture patterns
  • Comfortable with Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Crashlytics)
  • At least one app you have personally shipped to the Play Store

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Jetpack Compose
  • Familiarity with CI/CD for mobile (Fastlane, GitHub Actions)
  • Basic backend experience (Django REST APIs)
